USS Zumwalt
This is a photo of the US Navy’s new Zumwalt-class destroyer being constructed at the Bath Iron Works in Bath, ME. Note the weird inverted hull design, called “Tumblehome,” which is supposed to be better at messing with enemy radar. Tumblehome naval ships haven’t been in use since the Russians fought the Japanese in 1905. The Zumwalt was supposed to be the backbone of the US Navy, but as technical issues arose over the years, the government’s order decreased from 32 ships to just three. This one, probably the USS Zumwalt, should be commissioned in 2018. The cost will be about $3.5 billion. (Thanks Wikipedia).
