Mad Men
Last night I went to the Worcester Art Museum’s opening of Kennedy to Kent State, an exhibit of iconic newspaper and magazine 1960’s photographs. As a history guy I love this stuff – it was one of the few galleries I’ve been to where I read every caption of every piece and lost myself for a full hour. Most of the photos I’d seen before, and not only knew the story of the circumstances leading up to the photo (like Ken Kesey and the acid tests), but knew the story of the photos itself (like the three men standing on the balcony after the MLK assassination). Very cool show, whether you remember the 60’s or not.
One of the exhibit lead-ins brought up an interesting point: 50 years ago, newspapers and magazines like Time and Life gave America photographs once a day or once a week. With the demise of the print industry, where do we get our generation’s iconic images?
Anyways, for the event 1960’s inspired attire was encouraged… Here are Kristy, Suzanne, John, Charlotte, Don Draper, Luke and Jess going back in time. (And that’s my own special commemorative issue of Life magazine from 1969)..

Wedding Bells
Yesterday Jen and I went Branford, CT, for the wedding of Bobby and Thea, Jen’s friends from high school. It was an outdoor wedding and fortunately the rain held off.. The ceremony was beautiful, the bride was beautiful, and the Venetian table was beautiful (haha…). Best wishes to Bobby and Thea and all the best for their future together.

Cascades
Yesterday (Sunday) morning, Jen and I went yardsaling in Shrewsbury, food shopping at the new Wegmans, took short hike at the Cascades in Worcester, then ate dinner and watched the Patriots get robbed.

StArt On The Street
Fun day today. Had brunch with Mr Dolan, my highschool French teacher, with whom I still stay in contact. Then this afternoon was StArt on the Street, the semiannual art and music festival in Worcester. Then this evening was studying, dinner with Jen, cleaning, and then Star Trek. Good day, good day…

Cut Down
Across the street from Jen’s house, and up the street from my office, was a giant tree overlooking the parking lot. As I drove into work this afternoon, I saw it was being cut down. The worker from the removal service said it was dead inside. I’m not sure what kind of tree it was or how old it was, but it was a pretty cool tree.

Eleven Years Later
This evening I attended the 9/11 Ceremony at the West Brookfield American Legion. One of the guests read an excerpt from President Theodore Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” speech, which I’d never heard before. It was pretty inspiring. I also got to see my friend @HeatherBish.

Happy Birthday!
Someone has cool friends! (Not my birthday, Jen and I saw this car while looking for a parking space at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley).

Bet on the Key-tar
Tonight I went on a fundraising trip to Foxwoods. I didn’t win any money, but I did get to see a band with a key-tar… (It’s a bad photo, look to the far left)…

Horsing Around
I went for a walk and dinner in Paxton tonight with my former co-worker, Meg. We passed a small farm which had horses and ponies.
