Kristi
It was a beautiful morning, so I called Kristy and we played a round of disc golf at Pyramids in Leicester. I’ve been playing disc golf since 2006, and today, on Hole 3, I finally got my first birdie. it was a beautifully perfect drive, followed by by a long putt. WooHoo! Here Kristy is going for a putt on Hole 16.
A Reel Find
We’re turning the corner into Fall, and it’s getting to be Yard Sale Season here in New England. Jen and I stopped by three on the way home from the apple orchard. She boughts some shelves, I bought some classical music CDs, a book on Office XP (a $29.99 book for $.25), and a chair massager that may or may not work. It’s always fun to find the random stuff. Here’s an old reel-to-reel machine. Well, I can’t say old, because I remember using one of these beasts at WRBB when I was DJ-ing in college.
Red Cross Volunteers
I am a volunteer for the American Red Cross, mostly on disaster relief operations. This morning my local chapter had a fun “get to know your fellow volunteers” event, with games, prizes, and, of course, paperwork (hey, it’s the Red Cross). Here’s a pic of the other volunteers.

Rain? No problem.
Today we had band practice at Jon’s apartment. He has a leaky roof and there is a pretty big storm coming this weekend. So he hooked up a pvc pipe into the ceiling to divert the water into a potted plant. Smart thinkin’. Here, our singer Callista points out the mechanics of the Automatic Plant Watering System.

Driving by a Legacy
Fellow JET alum Amanda and I went to Carter Beach in South Boston today. On the way back through the city, we saw a ton of State Troopers and realized we were driving on the same route as Sen Ted Kennedy’s funeral procession. We pulled over by the World Trade Center just in time to take some photos. and pay our respects.

Let’s Go Red Sox!
I’m at the Red Sox – White Sox game with Jen and a bunch of Clark alum. Gonzalez just a hit a one run homer to pull the lead over the White Sox, 2-1. Coincidentally, the last time I saw a Red Sox game was 2006, against the White Sox, but in Chicago with someone else.

Disc Golf
I didn’t get any exercise yesterday, so I played a round of disc golf this afternoon. This is one of the courses on Marshall Street in Leicester.

Organizing my digital life
Ok, not the most exciting picture today… My laptop died a few months ago. The motherboard fried and it was irreparably damaged (Lesson #1: never underestimate the damage static electricity can do to electronics). But forrtunately it crashed just a day or two after I made a a backup.
After the crash, I bought alittle netbook, but I’ve had duplicate files and folders scattered around three different external hard drives.
I spent most of today on the computer, trying organize all the stuff I had. There were pictures and videos going back to Japan, AmeriCorps, even papers I wrote while a freshman at Northeastern. You can see all the files laid out over the tiny netbook display.
(Like I said, not the most exciting picture.)
