Tableaux Vivants I

Posted in Uncategorized by BJ Hill on October 24, 2011

This weekend the Worcester Art Museum said goodbye to Director Jim Welu, who had been with the museum for over thirty years. As a special sendoff, we presented “Tableaux Vivants,” in which local actors (mostly college students majoring in drama), portrayed some of the museum’s artwork, complete with props and costume. Here, a patron interacts with American Frank Benson’s Portrait of My Daughters (you can just see the 1905(ish) painting in the background). (The “daughters” are actually a middle school girl and two Holy Cross sophomores).
In all there were about 16 pieces of art brought to life, and the event was fun, unique, and brought in quite the crowd. I’ll post more photos later this week.
